Michelle Obama to speak on second day of Democratic National Convention

Former U.S. first lady Michelle Obama, whose speeches at previous conventions have galvanized Democrats, will speak at this week’s gathering in Chicago, according to a person familiar with the plans.

She is due to speak on Tuesday (20), the same night as her husband, former President Barack Obama.

Michelle Obama supported Vice President Kamala Harris alongside her husband in a video last month.

“I’m proud of you. This is going to be historic. And the energy out there, I mean, it really changed the game in a major way, and that’s because of you,” she said in the video. “We support you,” she said.

Essence magazine first reported Michelle Obama’s plans.
